Vibrant Prints Abound

I spent some time wandering through the impressive Villa Belvedere last week. It was a beautiful sunny day which only enhanced the awe-inspiring Bay views from every room in the house. When I finally focused my attention on the homes’ interior, the real fun began. I was thrilled by the well-edited collection of artwork.  Each room seemed to feature a different artist and theme.

I was also inspired by the use of texture and tone. Many of the spaces featured an eclectic mix of fabrics, wovens, leather and metalics.  The Master Suite even featured an odd collage of boiled wool pouf balls on one wall.   Not my favorite detail, but I did love the use of Ombre woolens on the upholstery and curtain panels – genius!

I of course I enjoyed the Nautical accents like the rope & cleat drapery rod and Sailcloth panels. Nature inspired elements of shells, coral & seagrass added an organic feel. I loved the thoughtful bursts of color in the Teens bedroom and cabana. Fun fabrics were everywhere: boiled wool, silks, velvets, mohairs, linens. It made me want to rush out and recover everything in sight.

In any case the Showcase is worth a visit, if only to sip a glass of Chardonnay and enjoy the view!

I especially love their collection of Marimekko prints. Marimekko is a groundbreaking Finnish textile company founded in 1951 by Armi and Viljo Ratia. They have been producing bold, vibrant textiles for the home and fashion industry ever since. Their timeless designs look just as fresh today as they did over 60 years ago.
